1-STOP EXPANDS INTO NEW ZEALAND’S SOUTH ISLAND

1-Stop Connections (1-Stop) has been selected as the Vehicle Booking System (VBS) IT solutions provider for Lyttelton Port Company (LPC). The latest addition to 1-Stop’s growing network, LPC is the South Island’s largest port and its international trade gateway.

1-Stop is the global supply chain innovator. 1-Stop has extended operations into New Zealand’s South Island, with LPC being the first container and inland terminal on the island to use 1-Stop’s Vehicle Booking System (VBS)

1-Stop’s flagship product, the VBS, is the premier system for the Terminal to Landside interface. The VBS is active in 13 terminals across Australia, New Zealand and most recently, the Philippines. In 2015, 1-Stop’s booking solution was implemented into the two international terminals in Manila, and known locally as the Terminal Appointment Booking System (TABS).

Growth in terminal volume, plus the development of a 30-year plan meant 1-Stop’s streamlining supply chain technology was selected to enhance Lyttelton’s productivity.

Lyttelton Ports City Depot facility in Woolston will be the first location to have the VBS implemented. It’s expected that bookings through the VBS, will begin in February 2018. The main container terminal will go live later in 2018.

Two other LPC facilities, MidlandPort and the Empty Container Yard will be considered to have the system installed in 2019.

LPC Chief Executive Peter Davie says the new technology is part of the Company‘s continuing commitment to freight service innovation to improve customer service and performance efficiency.

“The Vehicle Booking System will provide a step change in service. It is a new era in freight efficiency for our customers , starting at our CityDepot in Woolston which manages the majority (70%) of Christchurch’s empty containers. It is also an important part of our planned Port investment to manage future freight growth.”

1-Stop’s Vehicle Booking System will streamline the demand around the gate which will allow for growth of container volumes and facilitate a faster turnaround for the transporters for both the terminal and Inland Ports.

1-Stop’s CEO, Michael Bouari adds “Our newest strategic alliance with Lyttelton Port is a major win in our goal of becoming the global supplier of Port Community Systems. Combating congestion and improving productivity is our number one goal for ports across the world and it’s exciting to see LPC choose us to help reach their goals”

History:

Since 1-Stop introduced the Vehicle Booking System, port communities have benefited through:

  • Increased throughput: Increased Terminals in South East Asia experienced a 20% increase in truck servicing
  • Increased utilisation: Trucking companies are experiencing up to 5 times more utilisation per truck
