MĀIA HEALTH FOUNDATION AND LYTTELTON PORT COMPANY LAUNCH NEW PARTNERSHIP

Māia Health Foundation is proud to announce Lyttelton Port Company Limited as the foundation’s newest Founding Business Partner.

Lyttelton Port Company Limited (LPC) will be contributing a significant donation to Māia for the next three years.

Peter Davie, Chief Executive at Lyttelton Port Company Limited, says, “LPC is pleased to support Māia Health Foundation’s projects to make children’s time in Christchurch Hospital as comfortable as possible and to future proof its helipad operation.

“These projects are an important part of growing our health services and like Māia, Lyttelton Port, as South Island’s gateway for goods coming in and out of the region, is vested in the growth of South Island’s services. Supporting our communities is a big part of what we do.

“Māia wants to make a difference – and make each hospital stay as comfortable as possible for children and their families. So do we. LPC is grateful for the opportunity to join the Māia Health Foundation in helping create a future for our children to get better, sooner.”

Every new addition of a Founding Business Partner means we’re that much closer to reaching our goal of bringing essential enhancements to Christchurch Hospital,” says Michael Flatman, Chief Executive at Māia Health Foundation. We’re fundraising a total of $5.2 million, so our goal is an ambitious one. The support of organisations such as Lyttelton Port Company Limited makes an immediate and meaningful impact. We’re thrilled to be nearing the finish line.”

Māia Health Foundation is a non-profit launched in May 2016 with two initial projects: enhancements to the Christchurch Hospital’s rooftop helipad, including the creation of a purpose-built clinical support unit so trauma patients can receive life-saving treatment upon touchdown; and major enhancements to the children’s health facilities, such as creating shared family spaces and installing 60 parent beds in the children’s facilities.

Lyttelton Port Company Limited is the South Island’s largest port and its infrastructure is of national importance, a vital gateway for exporting and importing and integral to the health of the region’s economy and to its people.
