LPC proudly welcomed the Disney Wonder Cruise ship on its inaugural visit to Lyttelton last Friday.

The 25-year-old vessel was an impressive sight at the Cruise Berth, measuring 300 metres in length and weighing 84,130 gross tonnes.

On board were 1,974 passengers and 1,040 crew members from 60 nationalities, including Mickey Mouse.

The Disney Wonder travelled from Sydney to Auckland, making three stops, including Lyttelton, before returning to Auckland and then heading to Australia.

Disney Wonder Captain Jozo said he was impressed with Lyttelton.

“This is absolutely wonderful… very picturesque, the crew are loving it… and I am sure many guests are enjoying this day and the scenery, ” said Captain Jozo.

As is tradition, commemorative plaques were exchanged between the vessel’s captain and LPC CEO Graeme Sumner, including an original Disney drawing.

This season, Disney Wonder will make two additional visits to Lyttelton, bringing thousands of guests to Christchurch, with the next visit scheduled for Wednesday, 17 December, and the final visit on Christmas Eve, 24 December.
