There have been several official plaque exchange ceremonies.

Traditionally, these occur between a Lyttelton Port Representative and the ship’s Captain.

Together, they exchange a unique plaque as a symbolic welcome gift in the maritime world.

The Godspeed plaque expresses a wish for a safe and successful voyage.
