New filming permit system for taking photos and videos inside the port
Lyttelton Port Company has implemented a new filming permit system for third parties who wish to take photos or videos within the port boundary, in operational areas, for any external use.
This applies to content for promotion, marketing, editorial or media purposes. Drone use is not allowed within, across or over the port unless explicit permission has been granted by Lyttelton Port Company.
Lyttelton Port is a secure operational facility and a Customs Controlled Area. Safety, security, privacy and uninterrupted operations must always be protected.
Any filming or photography inside the port boundary for external use must be approved through the LPC Filming Permit system. This includes Dry Dock Inner Harbour, Container Terminal, Cruise Berth, Coal Yard, Reclamation, Quarry, CityDepot and Midland Port.
Requests need to be submitted in advance and are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Filming in operational areas also requires an Authority to Work Permit.
Photography and video taken from public areas outside the port boundary are allowed, as long as there is no entry onto port land and no disruption to port operations.
To apply for a Filming Permit or to request supplied drone footage, contact LPC Communications at lpccommunications@lpc.co.nz or phone 021 196 1686.
