Hana Vincent-Martin has now completed her training as Launch Master for LPC, marking a significant milestone in her career.

She grew up on the Banks Peninsula and frequently travelled by ferry from Diamond Harbour to Lyttelton, an experience that ultimately led her to begin her maritime career.

She obtained a skipper’s certificate while working at Black Cat Cruises, which gave her practical experience and enabled her to become an LPC Launch Deckhand.

“I’ve always been eager to learn and take on new challenges,” said Hana.

“Being on the water feels natural to me,” she added.

Hana joined LPC in 2022 as a casual line supervisor, and she credits the inclusive environment of LPC’s Marine Team for fostering her success.

“I was welcomed onto the launch team, and everyone was so supportive from day one,” said Hana.

“Working with people who genuinely want each other to succeed is incredibly motivating,” Hana added.

Hana’s recent accomplishment is particularly notable, and she continues to showcase opportunities for women in her field.

Marine Fleet Manager, Henry Bastion, says, “she brings energy, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit that uplifts everyone around her.”

Now that she has been signed off as Launch Master, her goal is to obtain a 500-tonne endorsement, enabling her to progress to the role of Tug Master when the opportunity arises.
