Join Lyttelton Port Company and the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust for a community planting day that will help restore native habitat in Lyttelton for future generations.

LPC is inviting staff, friends and whānau to roll up their sleeves and take part in this year’s Port Saddle community plant out on Sunday 23 August, from 10am to 1pm.

The annual event brings together LPC, BPCT and volunteers from across the community. Planting days like this help strengthen local biodiversity, improve habitat for native wildlife and support the long-term health of the harbour environment. They are also a great opportunity to spend time outdoors and connect with others.

Head of Environment and Sustainability, Crystal Lenky, said the success of the project comes from the people who support it.

“One of the best things about the Port Saddle plant out is seeing so many people come together and contribute to the future of this special place, and we’d love to welcome new volunteers.”

People should be aware that the site is steep and undulating. A moderate level of fitness is required, along with the ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.

A postponement date has been set for Sunday 30 August if required.
