More than 370 people of all ages explored Lyttelton Port during LPC’s school holiday tours, taking part in an experience designed especially for children and families.
The tours gave visitors an opportunity to see how the Port works. To make the experience engaging for younger visitors, the tours were tailored for children, with activity sheets encouraging them to spot key port features and answer questions.
The family focus was obvious from the moment guests arrived. The tour bus destination display was specially changed to Port Explorers, helping create a sense of adventure before the tour even began.
A highlight for many visitors was a special display from LPC’s Marine team. Guests were able to get up close to the marine fleet and learn about the important role they play in supporting vessel movements and keeping people safe on the water.
Communications Advisor, Charlotte Harrison, hosted the tours and said they were designed to help the community better understand the port while creating a memorable experience for children.
“We wanted to make the tours fun, interactive and accessible for children while still giving everyone a genuine look at the work that happens at the port.”

The strong turnout highlights the community’s interest in learning more about LPC and continues to be a valuable way to strengthen connections with our community.
