LPC is proud to announce the recipients of the LPC – Women in Trades Scholarship through the Ara Institute of Canterbury: Jasmin Young and Knox Delaney. These scholarships are awarded to women pursuing qualifications in trades, encouraging more women to enter and succeed in these fields.

Jasmin Young, pursuing a Mechanical Engineering Level 3 qualification, has been inspired by working at an engineering company near City Depot. Watching others in the trade motivated her to take the next step into mechanical engineering.

“I kind of stripped everything back, and I was like, right, let’s do something about it, and that’s how it ended up deciding to study,” Jasmin said.

She expressed her excitement for her studies, adding that receiving a place on the course and a scholarship felt surreal.

Knox Delaney, working towards a Certification in Engineering Fabrication, has also found the scholarship a significant milestone.

Growing up around a backyard environment with things like cars, Knox developed a keen interest in the field.

During a tour of LPC, she was fascinated by the intricacies involved in various roles, such as container repairs.

“I didn’t realise how much goes into container repairs,” Knox said.

Young and Delany are enthusiastic about their future careers and thanked LPC for the scholarship support.
