Community: Take a bus tour of Lyttelton Port these school holidays

Published: Tuesday, 2 June 2026

LPC is welcoming families for guided double-decker bus tours during the school holidays. These tours offer a chance to see how the Port operates up close while supporting a local children’s charity.

These tours are for families and people of all ages, with a special focus on making things fun and easy for kids. Young visitors can see how big the Port is and learn how goods come and go from the region. Friendly LPC staff will share stories along the way, making it easy for kids to follow and enjoy.

Every ticket helps a good cause. Money from the tours goes to Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, which gives short-term emergency and respite care.

Chief Bulk Cargo, Engagement and Sustainability Officer, Phil de Joux, says this is a great way for families to see what happens inside the Port and understand the role LPC plays in the region.

“We love being able to open our gates in a way that’s engaging, informative, and meaningful for the community.”

Please note that all visitors aged 16 and over must bring a photo ID to access the Port, and children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
