Our People: Valuing our team

Just nine months in to our values awards programme has ticked over 100 nominations across LPC’s three sites.

The awards, set out to celebrate our staff living out the LPC values, are an opportunity for our team to be recognised for their dedication, skill, and commitment.

Our values: Pride, Integrity, Communication, and One LPC Team, were launched in 2020 and represent the values that are most important to the LPC whānau. Anyone across the business can be nominated, with a winner chosen every month.

Our Acting CEO Kirstie says it’s been wonderful to watch the nominations roll in month by month.

“The hardest part about this award is choosing a winner – it’s clear that there are some passionate and amazing people at the Port and it’s great to see them recognised for their work.”

From leading new health and safety initiatives, to great work ethic despite inclement weather, to championing mental health support, our team has taken to our values.

Our people and safety co-ordinator Esther Docherty, who won the award in 2021, says it’s a fantastic initiative to recognise staff and their contributions.

“I was really surprised, delighted and felt really honoured, given the great work that goes on across LPC by so many of our teams.”

Esther was nominated by her workmates for her tireless efforts in LPC’s ongoing response against COVID-19.

Often behind the scenes, Esther works to ensure our staff are compliant for COVID-19 testing, co-ordinates and runs vaccine clinics, and supports the wider response team throughout changes to traffic light settings and alert levels.

Winning nominations receive a morning tea shout for their team, as well as a restaurant voucher, to use with family and friends.

We love celebrating our values and can’t wait to see where the next 100 nominations will take us.
