With more than 100 years’ experience, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V will deliver stage one of Lyttelton/Whakaraupō Habour’s channel deepening project.

The Netherlands-based contractor has grown from a local Dutch dredging company to one of the global market leaders in its field, specialising in dredging. Its services extend to construction, maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation to coastal defence and riverbank protection.

Boskalis lists having a major role in the Dutch Delta Works in 1953 as one of its main highlights during the past century. The company’s work has also seen it involved in international projects such as the Øresund tunnel, which links Denmark and Sweden, and construction of Hong Kong International Airport in the 1990s. Boskalis also received the designation ‘Royal’ in 1971.

More than 10,700 experts work for Boskalis with specialised expertise in hydraulic, civil and marine engineering, ecology, morphology, geology, geophysics and marine biology.
